We are a young, up-and-coming technical university in the heart of Lusatia, which uses scientific expertise to develop practical solutions for shaping major future issues and transformation processes worldwide.
Within this newly established department, all key aspects of social law, as well as labour and civil law provisions relating to social work and social and labour relations in Germany as a whole, will be addressed in close collaboration with the Institute of Social Work and the Institute of Law, and the resulting research questions will be examined. This includes factors arising from EU and international law. The scope accordingly ranges, by way of example, from child and youth welfare law through rehabilitation issues to questions of care and migration. Furthermore, the intersections between social and labour law are examined in depth. The department’s course offerings are aimed at social work students, but will in future also become established in degree programmes with a greater legal focus. Finally, the department makes its presence felt within the professional community through its publications and regular participation in conferences and seminars.

Academic staff member (m/f/d) for Social and Labour Law (Post Doc/Prae Doc)
Your area of responsibility includes in
particular:
Assistance with teaching, including:
- Contributing to the delivery of teaching tasks within the subject area in the Social Work degree programme, in accordance with content and methodological guidelines, to impart specialist knowledge, practical skills and academic methods
- Preparing, delivering, following up on and evaluating exercises, placements, lectures, seminars, as well as oral and written examinations
- Assisting with teaching-related organisational and administrative tasks, as well as developing and updating teaching materials, resources and exercise collections
- Supervision of students’ term papers and dissertations, and contribution to the further development of the course offerings in the subject area
Research work:
- scientific work within the framework of the department’s research priorities; this includes, in particular, independent in-depth scientific work in preparation for a PhD or to produce additional scientific output amounting to at least one third of the respective working hours
- Collaboration in the preparation and implementation of externally funded projects (BMFTR, DFG, industry projects)
- Lecturing and publishing on the research topic, drafting contributions for reports and presentations
- Other research-related administrative tasks
Your requirements profile:
- Completed academic degree (First State Examination/Master’s/university diploma/equivalent) in a subject relevant to the role (law or comparable)
You should have the following knowledge and/or experience:
- some teaching experience
- Basic knowledge of the structure of social work in Germany
- Good written and spoken German and English
You possess the following personal skills:
- Ability to conduct academic research, independence, flexibility, teamwork and communication skills
